The Joy of Accomplishment
One thing you may notice as you continue accomplishing your goals with Scrum for Your Life is that the joy of accomplishment may diminish. Like any thing that delivers a good feeling, we get used to it over time and the dopamine rush we used to get isn’t there. Did you just run a personal best 10k? Just another day at the office if you’ve been going through the daily accomplishments that led to that. It still feels good, but that feeling passes more quickly and will require a bigger goal in the future to get the same jolt. I’m not suggesting that is necessary.
A meaningful progression toward your goals that are aligned with your values should be enough to bring you daily joy. To me, that’s more important than high-fives all around once a month, but I get it, you still want some of that.
Notice that part of what you’re experiencing is increased confidence. Your small daily tasks and your bi-weekly sprints have made everything easier. That means one of two things. You can coast and realize that your life is on track exactly as you want it to be while being aware and flexible of circumstances that can change that. Or you set a bigger goal, you stretch more, grow more and accomplish more. Just realize that you’ll get used to that too.
