Mini Self-Care
Many people are working at home and finding it more and more difficult to take breaks than when they were in the office. The office setting naturally invites socializing that while impacts productivity, is good for mental health. There is also a phenomenon that drives people to work longer when working at home, perhaps because of its easy accessibility.
Ideally, we would all often take long weekends, afternoon naps and get a massage once a month. Self-care can be much simpler though. Just stepping away from your computer and phone for even five minutes to do NOTHING is helpful. It can relieve tension and recharge you. Going for a short walk is good for your mind and your body, as we learn just how harmful sitting all day is for our health. And connecting with a friend or loved one by voice, not text, can make a real difference in how you feel.
So go ahead. Take a break…or two or three every day. You’ll feel better and accomplish more than you could by just pushing ahead.
